 ✵The ancient works Nei Jing (Inner Canon) discuss stagnation disease, in five types, namely, liver Qi stagnation syndrome, fire stagnation syndrome, spleen Qi stagnation syndrome, lung Qi stagnation syndrome, kidney Qi stagnation syndrome, etc.

 Liver Qi stagnation syndrome: the liver Qi stagnation, is half exterior and half interior Shaoyang disease, fullness in hypochondria, red eyes (acute conjunctivitis) and sudden pain, the liver Qi stagnation corresponding to liver and gallbladder, present in tendons and fingers, hurt in the spleen and stomach, with symptoms acid regurgitation and vomit acid liquid, etc.

 Fire stagnation syndrome: the fire stagnation, is Yang and heat, corresponding to the heart and small intestine, triple energizers, presents in channels and collaterals, hurt in Yin phase, main symptoms are cough, asthma due to excessive phlegm, urticaria, etc.

 Spleen Qi stagnation syndrome: the spleen stagnation, corresponding to the spleen and stomach, present in muscle, arms and legs, hurt in the blood phase, main symptoms are dyspeptic retention in middle energizer, food blockage in the stomach, abdominal distension, phlegm-coagulation in spleen, accumulation of heat in the intestine and stomach, etc.

 Lung Qi stagnation syndrome: the lung Qi stagnation, is obstruction, dryness, corresponding to lung and large intestine, presents in skin and hairs, hurt in the Qi phase, symptoms retention of urine (difficulty in urination, uroschesis), shortness of breath, distension and insomnia, fullness of lung Qi, etc.

 Kidney Qi stagnation syndrome: water stagnation and obstruction, flows into arms and legs, edema and distension fullness, obstruction of urine and stool (difficult urination and constipation), etc.

 Pathogenic reasons:The five stagnation diseases in Nei Jing (Inner Canon), are mainly caused by five evolutive phases.

 Symptoms: the symptoms of stagnation disease in five Zang-viscera are introduced: There are those who are sick because of their own depression of this Qi. Heart stagnation with symptoms of dizziness and forgetfulness, liver stagnation with fullness in the flank and belching, spleen stagnation and fullness in the middle and no appetite, lung stagnation and dry cough without phlegm. Kidney stagnation, waist distension and gonorrhea, not able to stand for a long time; gall bladder stagnation, bitter taste, afternoon tidal fever, severe palpitation, uneasy and restlessness.

 The five stagnation diseases in Nei Jing (Inner Canon) are different from depression and melancholia.
