Diarrhea (xiè xiè).
Diarrhea is a diseased condition characterized by abnormal frequency and liquidity of fecal discharge; it is also known as xiè xiè.
Diarrhea, in general, it is a disease of spleen and stomach, its syndromes varies, in general diarrhea is due to spleen and stomach.
Ancient classical works Nei Jing (the Inner Canon) recorded, "heavy dampness inducing diarrhea".
The spleen is affected by pathogenic dampness, and leads to diarrhea, one feels thirst, borborygmus (sounding in the intestine), abdominal pain, hot urination and red urine, defecation is uninhibited, such diarrhea is due to dampness.
Internal reasons: the endogenous and exogenous pathogenic factors hurt spleen and stomach, disorder of gastric Qi, disorder in transportation and transformation, unable to distinguish between the clear and the turbid, Qi flows downward and develops to diarrhea.
In general, common reasons are including dampness heat, dampness and cold, indigestion, spleen deficiency, kidney deficiency, etc.
External symptoms: various syndromes of diarrhea, observed with various symptoms, in general, except diarrhea, there are thirst, red urine, clear urine, acid swallowing, fullness in chest, stuffiness, poor appetite, frequent urine, pale complexion, etc.
Different syndromes of diarrhea: there are various syndromes of diarrhea, five syndromes of diarrhea from Nan Jing (the Difficult Classic), five syndromes of diarrhea from Nei Jing (the Inner Canon), other syndromes of diarrhea, difficult syndromes of diarrhea and incurable syndromes of diarrhea, these various syndromes of diarrhea are introduced.
Various syndromes of diarrhea from Nan Jing (the Difficult Classic).
Ancient classical works Nan Jing (the Difficult Classic) recorded five kinds of diarrhea syndromes, they are stomach diarrhea (gastric diarrhea), spleen diarrhea (the splenic diarrhea), large intestine diarrhea, small intestine diarrhea, dysenteric diarrhea (acute temesmus); these syndromes are introduced:
Stomach diarrhea (gastric diarrhea): indigestion of food, defecation is yellow; it is also known as wèi xiè;
Spleen diarrhea (the splenic diarrhea): distension in abdomen (abdominal fullness), heaviness, obstruction in the middle part of gastric cavity, yellow complexion, vomit after taking diet; it is also known as pí xiè;
Large intestine diarrhea: feel depressed after taking diet, excrement is white, borborygmus (sound in intestine), cutting pain; it is also known as dà cháng xiè;
Small intestine diarrhea: pain in urination, purulent hematochezia (pass purulent matter), pain in the lower abdomen; it is also known as xiǎo cháng xiè;
Dysenteric diarrhea (acute temesmus): tenesmus (rectal tenesmus), frequently going to washroom but cannot defecate, pain in the external genitalia; it is also known as dà jiǎ xiè;
Various syndromes of diarrhea from Nei Jing (the Inner Canon).

Other syndromes of diarrhea.
Except the various diarrhea recorded in the Nei Jing (the Inner Canon) and Nan Jing (the Difficult Classic), there are various other syndromes of diarrhea: wind diarrhea, dyspeptic diarrhea, phlegmatic diarrhea, water diarrhea, diarrhea due to fire-pathogen, summer diarrhea, alcoholic diarrhea, lienteric diarrhea at dawn, deficiency diarrhea, kidney-insufficiency diarrhea, splenorenal diarrhea, chronic diarrhea, etc. These syndromes of diarrhea are introduced:
Wind diarrhea: the wind diarrhea is also known as fēng xiè, aversion to wind, spontaneous sweating, one is hurt from wind in spring, and affection of dampness in summer, sudden diarrhea, or with clear blood;
