Flos Buddlejae(Pale Butterfly-bush Flower).
Brief Introduction: The herb Flos Buddlejae is the dried flower-bud and inflorescence of Buddleja officinalis Maxim.(family Loganiaceae), used to clear liver heat and remove nebula for the treatment of acute conjunctivitis with lacrimation and photophobia, and blurred vision due to nebula. The herb is commonly known as Flos Buddlejae, Pale Butterfly-bush Flower or Mì Ménɡ Huā.
✵The herb Flos Buddlejae(Pale Butterfly-bush Flower) is the dried flower-bud and inflorescence of Buddleja Officinalis Maxim., it is a plant of the Buddleia L. genus, the Loganiaceae family of the Contortae order.

(1).Buddleja officinalis Maxim.: Deciduous shrub, 1~3 meters tall. Branchlets grayish brown, slightly prismatic, densely grayish tomentose. Leaves opposite, narrowly elliptic to linear-lanceolate, 5~15 cm long, 3 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, entire or slightly serrate, surface covered with fine stellate hairs, veins sunken, underside densely covered with grayish to yellow stellate hairs, veins raised; Petiole 6~10 mm long, covered with gray fuzz; Stipules atrophic to a horizontal line at base of two petioles. Panicles terminal, 5~12 cm long, densely grayish pilose, bracts lanceolate, tomentose; Calyx campanulate, apex 4-lobed; Corolla tubular, ca. 1.5 cm long, apex 4 lobed, tube violet, mouth orange, inside and outside pilose; 4 stamens, inserted in middle of corolla tube; Ovary superior, 2-locular, apex tomentose, style short, stigma undivided. Capsule 2~6 mm long, 2-lobed, base with persistent calyx and petals. Seeds numerous, fine, much flattened. Its flowering period is lasting to 2 or 3 months, fruiting period is from July to August.
Ecological environment: It grows on hillsides, hills, rivers, bushes or bushes near villages. It is distributed in South and Northwest, Southwest area of China. It is mainly produced in provinces Henan, Hubei, Sichuan.
Trait identification: Inflorescence with most small buds. Shape, size, surface grayish-yellow or light brown, densely hairy. The individual flower bud is short clavate, upper thick below fine, 3~6 mm long, the apex is round and slightly swollen, calyx bell-shaped, 4 lobed, corolla tube shape, the cleft petal is dark purple, pilose is very sparse. All parts are soft and fragile, the cross-section core part is black. Odour is slightly sweet, taste sweet and slightly bitter. Gather with bud close, color is grayish-yellow, have fuzz, qualitative softness is preferred.
