Herba Sedi(Stringy Stonecrop Herb).

 Sedum sarmentosum Bunge Brief Introduction: The Herb Herba Sedi is the fresh or dried entire plant of Sedum sarmentosum Bunge(family Crassulaceae), used to remove damp-heat and counteract toxins for the treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis, jaundice, boils, and sores. The herb is commonly known as Herba Sedi, Stringy Stonecrop Herb, Chuí Pén Cǎo.

 ✵Common herbal classics and official herbal classics defined the herb Herba Sedi(Stringy Stonecrop Herb) as the fresh or dried entire plant of (1). Sedum sarmentosum Bunge., it is a plant of the Sedum L. Genus, Crassulaceae family, Rosales order. This commonly used species is introduced as:

 Sedum sarmentosum Bunge (1).Sedum sarmentosum Bunge.:  It is also known as Stringy Stonecrop, or Chuí Pén Cǎo. Perennial succulent herb. The whole plant is glabrous. Root is fibrous, sterile stem prostrate, 10~25 cm long, nodes near ground easy to root. Leaves are usually 3 whorls; Leaf blade oblanceolate full-length rounded, 1.5~2.5 cm long, 3~7 mm wide, apex subacute, base descending, narrow but spur, entire. Cymes, nape, 3-5 branched, flowers small, sessile; Sepals 5-lobed, broadly lanceolate, unequal, 3.5~5 mm long; 5 petals, yellow, lanceolate to oblong, 5~8 mm long; 10 stamens, 2-wheeled, shorter than petals; 5 scales, wedge square, apex slightly concave; 5 carpels, oblong, slightly forked, 5~6 mm long. Follicles with many fine seeds. Seeds ovoid with small papillary projections. It is flowering from May to July, fruiting from July to August.

 Sedum sarmentosum Bunge Ecological environment: on sunny slopes, crevices, gullies and wet roadsides below altitude 1,600 meters. Resources distribution: It is distributed in most areas of China.

 Trait identification: Character identification dried whole grass slightly curled. Roots short, slender stem, brownish-green, 4~8 cm long, 1~2 mm in diameter, stem with more than 10 slightly protruding brown annular nodes, nodes some residual adventitious roots, apex sometimes with flowers; Texture tough or brittle, section center pale yellow. Leaves progressively contracted, easily broken and detached, oblanceolate to rectangular, brownish-green, 1.5 cm long, 0.4 cm wide. Inflorescence cymose; The florets are yellow and white. Slight smell, slightly bitter taste.
